The Valley on a Sunday Afternoon

Hadn't posted anything in a while, so I figured I'd ease back into the blog world with wine. Don't worry bike fans, I have a whole bunch of bike-themed posts primed for publishing, too. But its Sunday, so let's stick with the wine theme.

A few weeks back (before the Soberanes Fire started) we did our Carmel Valley routine...morning run at the dog-friendly Garland Ranch followed by lunch at the Corkscrew Cafe and sips of wine at one of the twenty-some tasting rooms in Carmel Valley Village--Boekenoogen and Cowgirl Winery on this particular Sunday.

And of course, a coffee stop on the way home...

Massey Monday: A day with Mas

Mas and I had some quality time this weekend. It was so nice at Del Monte beach that we decided to hangout a bit. Then we had a drink and fell asleep :-).

Massey Monday: Rest Time

There comes a point late in the afternoon each day when we're out backpacking. Massey really has no endurance filter...its more of an on-off switch. Most times, that switch is stuck in the "on" position. So after a full day of chasing birds, bunnies, pika, marmots, lizards, and whatever else she thinks she should chase, the batteries need a recharge. While Terry and I filter water and make dinner, Massey chills. But is still on alert.

Thirsty Thursday: Ventana Wilderness

Rambler: Beth

Drink at Hand: 2005 Bodegas Iberia

Wow, Thirsty Thursday is here again, time to pour something yummy and make those weekend plans. Tonight's photos are from quite a while ago, but for some reason when I opened Aperture tonight to look for some photos to post, this set of photos opened. New Years Eve 2012. Beautiful day for a hike in the Ventana Wilderness...which ended in a trip to the pet ER for ripped pads on two of Massey's feet. But we had fun up until that point!

The trails in the Ventana Wilderness are seemingly endless and so close for us. Hopefully we'll be exploring more of those trails again this spring and summer! Get out there and exploring your nearby wilderness this weekend!

Thirsty Thursday: Fingers Crossed

Rambler: BethDrink at Hand: Scheid Reserve Chardonnay (Tied for 1st on my chard list)

Hey Welliver Photography fans! Welcome to another addition of Thirsty Thursday...time to pour something yummy and make those weekend plans. We are headed off to backpack this weekend, or so we hope!

Over Memorial Day weekend we headed up to backpack to George Lake in the Kaiser Wilderness. The in-house meteorologist blew the weekend forecast, and long story short, without a four-season tent, we were snowed out of our first backpacking trip of the season. So much for the unofficial start of summer! So this weekend we'll try again, and hopefully the trail doesn't look like this... But we definitely can't say it wasn't beautiful, even if we didn't camp in it. Get out there and doing something this weekend...and hope you get a good weather report before you go!
